Projected Date: March 26, 2016 Projected Location: Undecided District Convention 2016District Convention General Information
The District Convention is held each year in March or April, the conclusion of the CNH Key Club year. This convention is held in celebration of the accomplishments of the individual Key Clubber as well as the clubs, divisions and District's achievements. A convention center has been required to host the assembly of massive amounts members at the general sessions, the location of the convention center alternates each year between Northern and Southern California. Workshops are hosted throughout a three day period covering training and service project information for elected officers to member centered meet and greets and motivational seminars. The Policies International and Elections Committee oversees the election process of the new District Executive Officers and International Officer Candidates. Caucuses are held to allow the members of the District to hear candidate's platforms and ask questions. A House of Delegates assembles with two representatives from every club in the district to vote. The results of the election are announced Saturday night at the general session. The general sessions also host a variety of talent acts by members as well as the presentation of scholarships and recognition of people and club who have shown outstanding service to the organization. Spirit rallies are conducted at each general session and a spirit stick goes to the group deemed most spirited. On the final day the Incumbent District Board is retired with all current divisional and club officers, the new District board is installed and all elected club officers gain official control over their positions at that point. The theme this year is Guardians of Service! You may find much more information and resources regarding District Convention on the CyberKey HERE. Event Details Sacramento Convention Center 1400 J St. Sacramento, CA 95814 Start of Convention: April 8, 2016 at 5:00 PM End of Convention: April 10, 2016 Please note that your school may have a procedure that must be followed to approve attendance. Please contact your officers if you would like to attend. Registration On-Time Registration: $209 received by February 10th Late Registration: $249 received by March 1st I am currently working with a Kiwanis club to hopefully subsidize costs for attendance. There is a "1/3rd rule" that I am trying to reach, which is 1/3rd of expenses are paid by Kiwanis, the other third by club, and the last third by the attendee. Code of Conduct & Attire Each attendee, including Key Clubbers, advisors, and invited guests, must agree to the Code of Conduct and sign and submit the form in order to attend. Attached below is the Code of Conduct form; you may view this to see all of the requirements for attendance and conduct that must be adhered to throughout convention, especially curfew time. Should any attendee break the code of conduct, their attendance at District Convention may be revoked and will not be able to participate in any convention activities. Each day has separate attire guidelines that must be followed. From personal experience, these guidelines are very strict and are part of the Code of Conduct. Transportation Transportation details will be released in the coming weeks. However, expect transportation fees to range from $60 to $120 one way. I am currently working with a Kiwanis club to contact a person who may be able to provide transportation for a certain cost. Lodging Everyone, including chaperons, must lodge in one of the eight hotel pre-approved by the CNH District. Each hotel varies in price and distance from the venue. Attendees staying in hotels far away from the venue will be provided a shuttle to the venue. You may view the details of each hotel in the Hotel Overview Attachment. Please remember it is optimal that each room houses 4 maximum attendees so that lodging costs are lowered per person. Details on reserving a hotel room will be released later after registration.
